The first generation
The Koepke family story on United States soil began in 1875 when the first generation of Koepkes emmigrated from their homeland of Germany to the rolling terrain of southeastern Wisconsin, just north of the City of Oconomowoc. Here is Great-Grandpa and his children, probably about 1905.
Harvey and Ruth Koepke
As the third generation, Harvey and Ruth began their farming journey on April Fool’s Day in 1937. They started us in our current location – at that point, on an un-named gravel road without electricity.
The Koepke family farm is a multi-generational operation with family members contributing their skills to different areas of the business. At the time this photo was taken, the Koepkes received a national award from Dairy Farmers of America recognizing the farm as a Dairy of Distinction.
Family leadership today
The current family management involves the fourth and fifth generations of Koepkes to farm in the town of Oconomowoc. Each generation learns valuable lessons from prior family elders who willingly share knowledge and provide guidance. This results in tradition and innovation passed on from one generation to the next keeping an eye focused on the future while honoring the achievements of the past and present. The owners came together for this photo when we were nationally recognized by Holstein Association USA as a Herd of Excellence for superior Holstein cattle breeding and milk production.
